Below are some important information that worth knowing regarding the RM500 Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M) or 1Malaysia People's Aid offered by the government.
- Application deadline: February 10, 2012
The government has decided to extend the deadline for sending in the BR1M applications to February 10. They can send in their BR1M applications to branch offices of the Inland Revenue Board or other related agencies until that date.
- Start of payment: January 15, 2012
Payment of the Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M) or 1Malaysia People's Aid has started on January 15 2012. BR1M payments are handed over to recipients in the form of cash vouchers. The vouchers are cashable at Bank Simpanan Nasional, CIMB or Maybank.
- End of payment: March 15, 2012
The vouchers will be handed over a period of two months i.e until March 15.
- Voucher validity: Valid until April 15, 2012
The vouchers will be valid until April 15 this year. They could be cashed at any of the three banks in the country.
How to check BR1M application status
Applicants will be informed of their results in stages, via post. If successful the letters will also state the venue for the collection of the vouchers.
Applicants can also check the status by calling the toll-free hotline number of 1-800-222-500 or 1-300-88-3010l from 9am till 5pm each working day.
How to appeal
Unsuccessful applicants may appeal, using a special form. The appeal form is available at all IRB branch offices and related government agencies, or can be downloaded from the Finance Ministry's website at (www.treasury.gov.my).
