The newest airport terminal in Malaysia, the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) officially opened on May 2, 2014. It replaces the former KLIA Low-Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT). It is the largest purpose-built low cost terminal in the world.

The new KLIA2 terminal has the capacity to handle 45 million passengers per year. It is measured at least 257,000 square meters, has 60 departure gates, 8 remote stands, 80 aerobridges, 6,000  covered car parking lots. KLIA2 comes with a retail space of 32,000 square meters, which can accommodate 225 retail outlets.

KLIA2's air traffic control tower is the tallest in the world as recognized by the Guinness World Record.
